This process will involve the most common process that we are using in a ratio and proportion, the so called CROSS MULTIPLICATION. Now to start the tutorial follow the detailed steps below.
How to Mentally Add Fraction Numbers Fast
1. Assuming that you wanna add to fraction numbers 1/2 and 3/4 , the sum will be? Yes! the answer will be 5/4 and that is so fast. How did we get it using the trick? Here's how.
GETTING THE ANSWER MENTALLY
Cross multiple 1/2 and 3/4
That would be 1(4) + 2(3) all over 2(4)
Then 1(4) equals 4
2(3) would be equals to 6
And 2(4) equals 8
Therefore it should be (4+6) / 8 or 10/8
Reduced to the lowest form the answer will be 5/4.
CHECK THE ANSWER USING ACTUAL CALCULATION
1/2 and 3/4 will have the LCD of 4
So 1/2 will be 2/4
And 3/4 will also be 3/4
Adding 2/4 and 3/4
The answer will be 5/4
